Description:
Description: English: A wild stand of 'double claw' Proboscidea parviflora (on the right side) growing with Proboscidea louisianica (on the left). This photo shows that the two varieties of plants are very difficult to tell apart without seeing the flowers. Very important traditional indigenous edible and useful plants of the southwest United States. Proboscidea parviflora is one of several very similar varieties, distinguished by its purple/pink flowers with a yellow nectar guide stripe. The variety Proboscidea louisianica is distinguished by a paler whiter flower with distinct red speckling inside. Date: 2 September 2017. Source: Own work. Author: T.K. Naliaka.
