Description:
I found this male Carabus cancellatus (Krnerwarze) - among many Silphidae - feeding on a young European Badger (Meles meles, Dachs) which was killed by traffic the night before. My idea was to let the cadaver untouched as a biotope, certainly the rangers had a different opinion....Carabus cancellatus ILLIGER, 1798 (Krnerwarze)Subgenus: EucarabusSubfamily: CarabinaeFamily: Carabidae (Ground beetle, Laufkfer)Suborder: AdephagaOrder: Coleoptera (beetles, Kfer)Germany, N-Bavaria (Franken), ca. 30 km S Fulda: vic.
