Bombycilla cedrorum is primarily frugivorous but it also eats insects. Its diet includes Juniper (called "cedars" by pioneers and the misnomer persists) berries and other vastly more tasty and fleshy berries of mainly mountain trees. In Utah, its breeding range is limited to the northern counties. Primarily color can range from gray to brown. The light to deep brown color and the brown crest of this bird combined with its remaining colorful yet tasteful ensemble creates a look that is seemingly stylish, sleek, and elegant. It is ready for the catwalk. This is a fairly small bird; I would estimate the height of this adult to be not much more than 16 cm.June 23, 2012, Salt Lake County, Utah
