Adults are on average 50 centimeters in length, but can reach a length of 70 centimeters. This snake is slender and 25 to 36 rows of dorsal scales at mid-body. These dorsaL scales are heavily keeled. This species mostly green with yellow spots running down the body. There is about 2.5 centimeters of space between each spot. The belly is green. Newborns at birth are tan-brown, but before they are even 1 day of age they turn to a yellow-green color.
