Linum nelsonii Rose

Annual and perhaps sometimes perennial, deep-green, the stem 3-5 dm. tall, finely hirsute, usually branched at the base and loosely corymbose above, the branches of the inflorescence rather stiff, the cymules open ; leaves quite numerous but not crowded, whorled or opposite on the lower part of the stem and branches, alternate above, sparingly pubescent, sometimes so only on the veins beneath, the blades oval, elliptic or oblong, 6-13 mm. long, acute or abruptly pointed, entire or sometimes glandular-toothed ; bracts lanceolate, glandular-toothed ; outer sepals lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, becoming 3-3.5 mm. long, closely glandular-toothed, short -acuminate ; inner sepals lanceolate, more acuminate and more finely toothed than the outer ; petals yellow; filaments pubescent at the base; staminodia 2-lobed, ciliate ; ovary finely pubescent ; styles distinct, glabrous ; capsules ovoid, about 2 mm. long, slightly surpassed by the sepals.
