Açıklama:
Rhynchobodo taeniata (Skuja, 1956) V+rs, 1992. Cells are 5-6 x 15-20 microns (2-4 x 13-16 microns). Cell cylindrical or nearly so, with a more or less conspicuous groove that takes a spiral path, about a half to one turn, from the subapical point of flagellar insertion and down the cell. A cytostome is visible as a narrow slit in the apical tip of the cell. When the groove takes only half a turn around the cell it appears as a longitudinal slit. The flagella are acronematic and inserted in a small pocket. The flagella are slightly unequal and about 1-2 times the length of the cell. The anterior flagellum coils around the swimming cell, while the posterior flagellum trails outside the groove. Swimming is fast and the cell rapidly rotates around its axis. The entire cell posterior behind the central nucleus may be filled with food vacuoles and refractile bodies. The extrusomes are not visible in the light microscope.
