Erect glaucous annual herb to 1 m.
Stems and leaves slightly succulent, often purplish, especially below. Leaves sessile: lamina up to 20 × 6 cm, lanceolate to
oblong, sparsely hairy and glabrescent; base amplexicaul; apex acute; margin with scattered minute teeth. Calyculus 0.
Capitula c. 12 mm across (including the rays),
orange or red; base 3-5 mm across. Phyllaries 9 mm,
c. 8-9, equal in 1 series. Rays 0.
