Cytisus scoparius (Broom) is a species of shrub in the family Fabaceae. It has a self-supporting growth form. It is associated with freshwater habitat. Broom is native to western north america, Norway, Germany, Italy, Moldova, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Denmark, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Belgium, Ukraine, Romania, Belarus, Spain, Switzerland, Ireland, Lithuania, Austria, Sweden, Portugal, the Netherlands, Poland, and France. It has compound, broad leaves and yellow flowers. Flowers are visited by Oxythyrea funesta (Poda 1761). Broom fixes nitrogen. It is a photoautotroph.
