Senna alata (Emperor's Candlesticks) is a species of shrub in the family legumes. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Tocantins, SãO Paulo, Santa Catarina, Maranhao, Ceará, Rio Grande Do Sul, Paraná, Caatinga, RondôNia, Cerrado, Pará, Alagoas, Amapá, Mato Grosso, ParaíBa, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Bahia, AmazôNia, Espirito Santo, Pernambuco, Rio Grande Do Norte, GoiáS, Distrito Federal, Piauí, Acre (Brazil), Pantanal, Rio De Janeiro, and Mata Atlântica. They have compound, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Dilemma Orchid Bee, Monk Skipper, Tetragonula laeviceps, and American Bumblebee. Individuals can grow to 3 m.
