Pteridium aquilinum (Western Brackenfern) is a species of perennial herb in the family Dennstaedtiaceae. They are native to Saint-Pierre Et Miquelon, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, and The Contiguous United States. They have bipinnate + pinnatifid leaves and green flowers. Flowers are visited by silver-washed fritillary. Individuals can grow to 6.6 feet. They have alternation of generations.
