Virola surinamensis (Baboonwood) is a species of tree in the family Myristicaceae. It has a self-supporting growth form. It is listed as endangered by IUCN. Baboonwood is native to Roraima, Ceará, Amazônia, Piauí, Mato Grosso, Acre (Brazil), Caatinga, Amapá, Rondônia, Amazônia, Tocantins, Pará, and Maranhao. It has simple, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 32 m.
