Berberis thunbergii (Japanese Barberry) is a species of shrub in the family Berberidaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Japan. They have simple, broad leaves, yellow flowers, and berries. Flowers are visited by Bumble Bees, Common Eastern Bumblebee, Two-spotted Bumblebee, and Andrena marginata. Individuals can grow to 6 feet.
