Red-brownish to cherry red with four white or yellowish-golden longitudinal lines on the dorsal and ventral surfaces, white mid-dorsal stripe running to the tip of the snout, large number (up to 200 or more) of white transverse bands, first three bands are widely spaced but the remainder are close together and more or less equidistant, head is broader than the body, lateral sensory organs present
