They are native to United States, Canada, The Contiguous United States, and Alaska. They have simple, broad leaves and blue flowers. Flowers are visited by bees & apoid Wasps, Olympia Marble, Helophilus hybridus, and Eupeodes volucris. Individuals can grow to 2.5 feet.
