They are native to Tajikistan, The Netherlands, Poland, Bhutan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Hungary, Belgium, Afghanistan, Sweden, China, Czech Republic, Belarus, Denmark, Finland, Spain, Georgia, Austria, Nepal, Russia, Germany, United Kingdom, India, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Ireland, France, Iran, Serbia And Montenegro, Norway, Kyrgyzstan, Portugal, Ukraine, Italy, Romania, Moldova, and Switzerland. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Meligethes, meadow brown, Common carder bumblebee, and Crambus. Individuals can grow to 0.78 m.
