It is native to Amapá, Amazônia, Amazônia, Pará, Maranhao, Acre (Brazil), Mata Atlântica, Mato Grosso, Rondônia, Espirito Santo, and the Americas. It has compound, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 18 m. Reproduction is dioecious.
