2012-05-01 Lower Austria, district NeunkirchenGerman name: Buchs-KreuzblumeTheir flowers come in two colours: upper petals either are a very pale yellow or a deep purple, while the lower ones always have an egg yolk yellow. Usually, plants of the same species flower in different colours for a reason - in most cases they don't offer much pollen and hardly any (or no) nectar, and the diversity of colours is to make it more difficult for insects to avoid flowers with few nectar, but this is not the case here, as far as I know.On some places
Polygala chamaebuxus flowers are only of one kind (either pale yellowish or dark purplish), but on other ones you can see both, like here on this place.
