Vernonia (Ironweed) is a genus of shrub in the family Asteraceae. They are climbers. They are native to Canada, U.S. Virgin Islands, The Contiguous United States, and Puerto Rico. Flowers are visited by Honey bee, Polites peckius, Hylephila phyleus, and Dun Sedge Skipper. Individuals can grow to 3 m.
