Mertensia pubescens (Iguana Hackberry) is a species of shrub in the family Boraginaceae. They are climbers. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Ceará, Mato Grosso, Paraná, Piauí, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Amapá, Mata Atlântica, Pampa, RondôNia, GoiáS, Rio De Janeiro, SãO Paulo, Alagoas, AmazôNia, Pantanal, Espirito Santo, Rio Grande Do Norte, Minas Gerais, Bahia, Pernambuco, Maranhao, Cerrado, Roraima, Tocantins, Santa Catarina, Pará, Sergipe, Acre (Brazil), Rio Grande Do Sul, Distrito Federal, ParaíBa, and Caatinga. They have simple, broad leaves and drupe.
