They are native to Yugoslavia, Russia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Ukraine, Moldova, Eastern Mediterranean, Armenia, Italy, Romania, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Greece, and Syria. They have simple, broad leaves and achenes. Flowers are visited by Anthophora, Callippe Fritillary, Cupido amyntula, and honey bees. Individuals can grow to 0.34 m.
