Centaurea solstitialis (Yellow Star Thistle) is a species of annual herb in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Albania, Algeria, Iraq, Armenia, Bulgaria, Lebanon, Italy, Azerbaijan, Spain, Tunisia, Russia, Iran, Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkmenistan, France, Turkey, Western North America, Syria, Georgia, Tajikistan, and Ukraine. They have simple, broad leaves and achenes. Flowers are visited by Woodland Skipper, Melissodes stearnsi, Honey bee, and Phyciodes mylitta. Individuals can grow to 0.54 m.
