They are native to Ethiopia, Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Australia, the Palearctic, The Neotropics, and Atlantic Ocean. They are solitary, nocturnal carnivores. Individuals can grow to 122 cm. They have parental care (female provides care). They rely on swimming to move around.
