Two specimens were found: one on stones in the outer breakwater of the Yacht Club Ribeira at a depth of 8 metres (42°33.7760N, 008°59.2740W), and the other in “Torre de Abajo” at a depth of 28 metres (42°32.7150N, 008°57.0950W). Oligocladus sanguinolentus is known from the coastal and littoral shores of Saint Malo (France), Isle of Man, Scilly Islands, various sites of Great Britain (United Kingdom), Gibostad (Norway) and Porto Grande de Sao Vicente (Cape Verde archipelago) (Faubel and Warwick 2005). The only record for the Mediterranean Sea is in the Gulf of Naples (Italy) (Lang 1884).
