Aechmophorus occidentalis (Western Grebe) is a species of birds in the family grebes. It is associated with freshwater habitat. It is found in the Neotropics and the Nearctic. It is a diurnal vertivore. Individuals are known to live for 14 years and can grow to 1400 g. Reproduction is dioecious.
