Global Range: (5000-20,000 square km (about 2000-8000 square miles)) Limited to vicinity of coastal San Diego County, California, in 50 to 100- mile radius from just south of Fallbrook and inland to Tecate Peak south to the border (Thorne, 1963) and then south 100 miles along the coast of Baja California, Mexico south to Santo Tomas (Brown, Real, and Faulkner, 1992). Brock and Kaufman (2003) show a similar but somewhat smaller range. Perhaps thebest summary is Faulkner and Brown (in New 1993) which indicatess the toal range is about 250 by 50 km. Due to urbanization much of the range has been lost and the present range is much smaller.
