Maximum longevity: 24 years (captivity)
Observations: A highly endangered species, not much is known about the longevity of these animals. One captive specimen lived for 22.5 years (Richard Weigl 2005) and they can live up to 24 years in the wild (Ronald Nowak 2003). Nonetheless, their maximum longevity is likely underestimated.
