Sigmodon hispidus (Hispid Cotton Rat) is a species of Rodentia in the family Cricetidae. They are native to The Nearctic, The Neotropics, and United States. They are solitary, nocturnal omnivores. Individuals are known to live for 62.4 months and can grow to 167.5 mm. They have parental care (female provides care).
