Dipodomys compactus (Gulf Coast Kangaroo Rat) is a species of rodents in the family Heteromyidae. It is found in the Nearctic. It is a solitary, nocturnal granivore. Individuals can grow to 49.3 g. Reproduction is dioecious. Gulf Coast Kangaroo Rat relies on saltation to move around.
