Orycteropus afer (Aardvark) is a species of mammals in the family aardvarks. It is found in the Afrotropics and the Palearctic. It is a solitary, nocturnal insectivore. Individuals are known to live for 288 months and can grow to 60000 g. Reproduction is dioecious.
