Thryonomys swinderianus (Greater Cane Rat) is a species of rodents in the family cane rats. It is associated with freshwater habitat. It is found in the Afrotropics. Greater Cane Rat is a nocturnal grazer. Individuals are known to live for 51.6 months and can grow to 4060 g. Reproduction is dioecious.
