Asphodeline brevicaulis is a rare perennial of SW Asia. It has a typical branching stem, which you cannot see in this picture. The flower open in the late afternoon and through the night, this is why I this pic was taken in the dark.

Asphodeline lutea is a well known Mediterranean species. In the Negev Desert highlands there is a disjunct population that survives in rocky areas of high altitudes. It doesn't bloom here every year, when it does. it is in very much contrast to its dry environment. In Israel it is a protected species.
