Bathyllus albicinctus Spittlebug or Froghopper - AdultI think these must be the Hippopotamus of the insect world except the nymph lives in a mass of froth on a plant stem. The froth prevents the nymph from dehydration and predators. See

I found the nymph crawling up my wall and brought it into an enclosure with pieces of bark for a substrate. It finally quite crawling and emerged--I'll post a sequence later. I liked the freaky effect in this photo.
