Carassius auratus (Goldfish) is a species of ray-finned fishes in the family Cyprinidae. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to the Palearctic, Myanmar, Macau, Laos, China, Hong Kong, and Japan. They are carnivores. Individuals can grow to 48 cm. They have sexual reproduction. They rely on swimming to move around.
