Katja Schulz commented on "Mechanitis lysimnia Fabricius 1793":
@Dominik Hofer: This looks like a real can of worms. The INBio account for Mechanitis lysimnia doryssus references deVries' (1987) "The butterflies of Costa Rica and their natural history." Markku Savela's site lists DeVries' Mechanitis lysimnia doryssus as a synonym of Mechanitis menapis doryssus Bates, 1864. But Niklas Wahlberg's Nymphalidae classification, which credits Savela's site as the source for the species lists, does feature Mechanitis lysimnia doryssus. It's not clear whether this is an intentional disagreement with Savela's opinion.

Dominik Hofer commented on "Mechanitis lysimnia Fabricius 1793":
Is there really a Mechanitis lysimnia doryssus? Might this one be Mechanitis lysimnia utemaia and Doryssus might be Mechanitis menapis doryssus, which, however, would look different.
