Description: Leccinellum rugosiceps (Peck) C. Hahn Image location: Somerset Co., New Jersey, USA At least a dozen fruiting bodies scattered about in short grass/moss under old oaks. I am going to call these rugosiceps as per the info in the below references. Who knows what these really are, but IMO they/rugosiceps likely clade in Leccinellum. I should get these sequenced to probe this theory… The exposed context of these three fbs didn’t really stain the expected pink/red, but another collection in a more fresh state found nearby did gradually stain vivid pinkish-red at the cap-stipe juncture.
