Fagus sylvatica (European Beech) is a species of tree in the family Fagaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They have simple, broad leaves and dry fruit. Flowers are visited by Andrena nitida, early mining bee, Andrena flavipes, and Andrena bicolor. Individuals can grow to 35 m.
