They are native to Eastern North America, France, Canada, United Kingdom, The Contiguous United States, Saint-Pierre Et Miquelon, Bulgaria, Greece, Sweden, North America, Iceland, Germany, Greenland, Hungary, Poland, Faroe Islands, and Finland. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 2.5 m.
