Mitracarpus hirtus (Tropical Girdlepod) is a species of annual herb in the family Rubiaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Alagoas, Santa Catarina, Caatinga, Rio Grande Do Sul, Pará, Amazônia, Pernambuco, Ceará, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Paraná, Distrito Federal, Cerrado, Puerto Rico, Espirito Santo, SãO Paulo, Bahia, Rio De Janeiro, and Tocantins. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Nomia microlutea, Lipotriches triodonta, and Ceylalictus variegatus. Individuals can grow to 0.12 m.
