Range Description

This species is known around the western Mediterranean to near the Atlantic. Found in mainland Spain (Galicia; Castilla la Mancha, Estremadura, Andalucia: www.anthos.es), Portugal, Gibraltar, northern and central Morocco, northern Algeria, northern Tunisia (from Kroumiria to Cap Bon; Cunod 1954), in Italy only in Sicily (western Sicily and Caltagirone; Giardina et al. 2007) and Sardinia (southern Sardinia, common at least in Sulcis; Bacchetta 2006), Balearic islands (only found recently on Minorca; Fraga 1996, 1998). Previously also believed to extend eastwards to Greece, however the specimens from Crete were re-determined as Leucojum valentinum by Mueller-Doblies in 1975.In France (including Corsica), this species is absent.
