Toxicoscordion micranthum occurs in northeastern California and southwestern Oregon. The principal populations occur from Sonoma and Napa Counties northward to Del Norte and Siskiyou Counties. Elevations of occurrence are less than 1000 meters.

Plant height ranges from 15 to 50 centimeters; bulbs are ten to 25 millimeters (mm)in thickness with an outer coat ranging from black to darkish brown. Leaves may be from four to ten millimeters in width. The inflorescence is raceme-like, sometimes with basal branching; pedicels are 15 to 40 mm in length. The diminutive flowers measure three to five mm in diameter, with perianth parts that are not cordate. Plants generally occur on dry slopes and flats.

It is native to Oregon and California, primarily in the Coast Ranges from Douglas County to Napa and Sonoma Counties, with isolated populations in Lassen, Plumas, Santa Clara, and San Benito Counties.[2][3] It is a member of the serpentine soils flora.

Toxicoscordion micranthum is a bulb-forming herb up to 70 cm tall and bearing as many as 60 flowers. Flowers are white or cream-colored, sometimes with green markings, 5–12 mm in diameter hence smaller than most of the other species in the genus.[4]
