Plants up to c. 15 cm high. Leaves distinctly mottled purple-brown.

A tiny but very distinct species. less than 8 cm tall. Leavea 2, sprading horizontally and almost flat on the soil, dark olive-green, 3-3.5 cm long, quite densely covered small tubercles on the upper surface. Inflorescence fairly lax.

A conspicuous species with a rosette of broadly ovate, overlapping leaves, densely spotted purple-brown. Inflorescences 2, apparently flowering in succession. Flowers not clearly visible as one inflorescence is finished while the second is still in bud.

Several specimens with broadly ovate overlapping leaves, more or less conspicuously spotted purple; some plants with leaves only just developing.

A small but distinct species. Leaves up to 12 (?; assuming image 1 & 2 are showing a single plant), appressed to the ground, narrowly elliptic, up to 7 cm long, olive-green and distinctly spotted above purple beneath; veining conspicuous. Inflorescences 1-several (?; again assuming it concerns a single plant), flaccid, lax. Flowers green with violet stamens.

Small plants. Leaves 2-3, ovate, blue-green with tubercle-based ciliate hairs on the upper surface. Inflorecences 1-several, many-flowered; peduncles less than 10 cm long, densely spotted with purple brown markings. Flowers vert brightly coloured violet-pink.

Bulbous, perennial herbs, the bulbs never fibrous at apex. Leaves all basal, often with reddish or green spots or markings. Inflorescence axillary, flexuous to suberect. Bracts 1 or 2 per flower, not spurred. Flowers pink, pink-purple or white, often with greenish keels. Perianth segments spreading or recurved. Filaments free. Ovary conic, expanding to a wide base below which it contracts abruptly; ovules basal, 2 in each loculus. Fruit a loculicidal capsule. Seeds obovoid, reddish or yellowish brown, brown or black, shiny.
