Description: Cycads and zamias Cycads and zamias are a group of 'living fossil' plants which have leaves resembling those of palms but which are not related to them. They are descendants of plants that that flourished 120 million years ago. A totla of about 120 species now survive throughout the tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world.
