Description: Native warm-season perennial, erect, tufted or rhizomatous grass to 80 cm tall. Stems are wiry, sometimes branched and have very little leaf. Flowerheads are open panicles (6-16 cm long) usually with widely diverging branches and spikelets. Spikelets are 1-flowered with the (often purplish) glumes much shorter than the lemma. Lemma has a 3-branched awn. Flowering is from spring to autumn. Found in dry eucalypt forest on sandy or rocky soils. No grazing value.
