Description:
This well camouflaged scorpionfish was resting on a rocky ledge. The species has highly venomous spines, but the venom is heat labile--plunge an injured part in hot water to denature the venom. Scorpionfish have internal fertilization and lay eggs in floating gelatinous masses.
