Description:
Description: San Clemente Island bush mallow (Malacothamnus clementinus) is a federally endangered plant that is endemic to San Clemente Island, the southernmost of eight Channel Islands off the southern California coast. It's stems are woody only at the base and the plant can reach a height from 2.3 to 3.3 feet tall. It's leaves are 1 to 2 inches wide and bicolored, with green upper surfaces covered in short fine hairs. The flowers have either pink or white and fading lavender petals.
