Stypandra glauca 1

Description:
Description: Stypandra glauca Tufted perennial herb - corroboration that Australia has its own native lily. Though botanists again cannot agree on the taxonomy here - it can be placed in Phormiaceae, Hemerocallidaceae or Liliaceae family. It was a bit of challenge to take this shot, as it was very windy, and this little delicate flowers would not be still! Nodding Blue-lily can be found everywhere in Australia except for Northern Territory and Tasmania. One web source says the juice from crushed stems applied to wounds promotes healing. www.anbg.gov.au/gnp/interns-2007/stypandra-glauca.html plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/NSWfl.pl?page=nswfl&am..
