Sorghastrum nutans (3912213615)

Image of Indiangrass

Description:

Description: The inflorescence comprises a panicle of spikelet pairs (sessile and pedicellate), but in Sorghastrum, the pedicellate spikelet is reduced to nothing, so each sessile spikelet is associated with a naked pedicel. The terminal sessile spikelet shown here is associated with two naked pecicels (a pedicellate spikelet terminates inflorescence branches in tribe Andropogoneae). Date: 12 September 2009, 09:34.
