Description: Arnica cordifolia, Castilleja miniata, Mertensia oblongifolia. These showy flowers were found blanketing a subalpine open forest near Hogback Lookout in the Helena National Forest. Absolutely gorgeous! Arnica cordifolia is commonly found growing in dry to moist forest; valleys to subalpine zones. Castilleja miniata grows in moist grasslands, meadows, thickets, forest openings, near streams; from valleys to subalpine zones. Mertensia oblongifolia occurs in grasslands, meadows, outcrops, woodlands, and open forest from valleys to alpine zones. Date: 17 June 2014, 13:25.
