Sage Thrasher Seedskadee NWR (18653858558)

Image of Oreoscoptes Baird & SF 1858

Description:

Description: A sage thrasher perches on the skeleton of a Wyoming big sagebrush while singing its melodius song. Good spring moisture on Seedskadee NWR and Wyoming in general has resulted in improved habitat conditions for sage thrashers and other species of the sage steppe in southwest Wyoming. Wyoming big sagebrush, needle-and-thread, and other native shrubs, grasses, and forbs have put on good growth, are producing abundant seed, and will be able to store root reserves. These native species have adapted to taking advantage when moisture returns inorder to survive in the long run when drought returns. Photo: Tom Koerner/USFWS. Date: 9 June 2015, 21:09.
