Description: English: Information by the photographer: „Ampelomyia viticola, Newport, N.H., June 2020. Even though the information states that it is not harmful, I smelled a weird odor and that is how I found it. To me, it looked like it might be something similar to Poison Sumac.“ According to the photographer, these leaves bear galls by Ampelomyia viticola (synonym: Schizomyia viticola). So, the plant would have to be a grapevine species (Vitis spec.). On the other hand, the leaves bear strong resemblance to those of lime trees (Tilia spec.), and those can display similar galls, e.g. by Eriophyes tiliae.
